I enjoyed the references to the other iterations of Baum's Oz. A Lion Among Men is the third novel in Gregory Maguire's The Wicked Years and was released in the UK on October 2, 2008, October 8 in the US, and on October 14, 2008 in the rest of Europe.. Thought Wicked was intriguing, Son of a Witch, fabulous.

Just finished this last night, and it has the same curse as "Son of a Witch," in that it reveals just so much, but leaves you with so many more questions. The three Animals discuss current events and past events. He strikes a plea and is assigned to go find the whereabouts of the Grimmerie, which leads him to his interview with Yackle. And I was really excited when I learned that we'd get the Lion's perspective in all this. The next group that Brrr encounters is the Ghullim, a streak of Ivory Tigers in Wend Fallows. The Lion soon finds a poem dedicated to humiliating him. She tells Brrr that to get to Tenniken, he must travel through the Cloud Swamp, a wet land inhabited by the Ozmists (ghost-like beings). Think I rushed through it, initially, and was disappointed that it seemed like a "concept" novel and not so much fantasy as the first two.Third in the 'Wicked' series, this story of Brrr the Lion fills in gaps in the overall tale, with a sad tone of regret and loss. I'm getting frustrated with Maguire. The people of Traum celebrate the Lion for refusing to help their enemies, the Glikkuns, and Brrr safely gets out of Traum by train. I'd really hoped, for the satement of my curiosity, that this would be the last book, in which all is revealed. Brrr and Cubbins have an "all but fatal" interview with the Ozmists.
I love the cowardly lion in the Wizard of Oz and he's my favourite character in the film so I think that's probably why I liked this book so much. Upon finishing this book, that is exactly what I did, but I'm a nerdy ginger not a demi god, so the effect may have been less impactful. I was all geared up to find out what happens with Liir and you-know-what-from-the-end-of-Son of a Witch, but the third book in this series barely mentions him. Instead, out of fear and the naive belief that since this is the first person he's conversed with, then Jemmsy's a friend and can't be abandoned, Brrr stays with Jemmsy until he dies, claiming the books that lie beside him and taking Jemmsy's medal for courage to give to Jemmsy's relatives. Back at the Mauntery, Brrr, the Cowardly Lion, and his pet, a Glass Cat named Grimalkin that he has nicknamed Brrr doesn't remember his parents or where he's from. But, no. A Lion Among Men summary: A Lion Among Men summary is updating. Within the following weeks, Brrr meets a strange group of travelers. Appreciated it a bit more. And much has changed.I don't know what to think about this one.
