The Arnold Estate, located just beyond the village of Harrisville, Rhode Island seemed the idyllic setting in which to raise a family. his is the true story of what occurred to the real-life family portrayed in The Conjuring.
And the story is told by the oldest daughter, Andrea Perron. Carolyn had long been under siege; overt threats issued in the form of fire…a mother’s greatest fear. Secrets were kept and then revealed within a space shared by mortal and immortal alike.
I love stories about paranormal experiences/hauntings but this was too scattered for my liking. Honestly, I couldn’t finish this book. Bryan Alexander. Secrets were kept and then revealed within a space shared by mortal and immortal alike. I wouldn't recommend reading this or any of the sequels at all.
March 4th 2011 The author would put random words in bold italics; that was distracting. In 2011, Andrea Perron released volume one of House of Darkness House of Light, her version of the “true story” of her family’s experiences in the famous house.
During a seance gone horribly wrong, they unleashed an unholy hostess; the spirit called Bathsheba; a God-forsaken soul.
Its comes off being a story about a very dysfunctional family, with a ghost story threaded through it. Seriously, where was the editing?! The worst critique I usually give a books is, it was ok, or not my favorite.
It was weird that this story was autobiographical but she wrote in the third person. Very convoluted, disjointed.I found this to be an interesting recounting of one family's experience with the paranormal when they purchase a haunted house and live there for ten years. This is a sacred story of spiritual enlightenment, told some thirty years hence. Time suddenly became irrelevant; fractured by spirits making their presence known then dispersing into the ether. This collective memoir chronicles the events which occurred between 1970-1980 in an ancient farmhouse in Harrisville, R.I. Volume One draws the reader into the family dynamic, there to dwell with them as they discover the multiple spirits who are sharing space and time with seven mere mortals stunned by the sight. They consider the Perron family saga to be one of the most compelling and significant of a famously ghost-storied career as paranormal researchers. This is a sacred story of spiritual enlightenment, told some thirty years hence. I can't even imagine living through what they did, especially with young children in the house. I bought Volume 2.
22 July 2013. This book was all over the place and now I feel like I need to read a gossipy young adult novel to cleanse my literary palate. All of these blunders, namely the overkill on polysyllabics are that of an insecure and novice writer trying hard to look like they can actually write. It transformed the woman in unimaginable ways. On some level, no matter our age, we are all little children, afraid of the dark. The thing we fear most of all is death. It's a memoir written by one of the daughters who lived for 10 years in a farmhouse in Rhode Island that was haunted.
This was the hardest book I have ever read! They consider the Perron family saga to be one of the most compelling and significant of a famously ghost-storied career as paranormal researchers. As I say, a crying shame because the subject matter is profoundly intriguing. This is by far the worst book I have ever read.
