The house looks majestic. So Eddie's wife began looking around for an older home where the mural would be appropriate and where it would find a good home. $17,000 is a lot of money! He is buried in Nashville; which is where he resided with his wife in his later years. And the university apparently did not want to spend that kind of money on a mural. So very wonderful of the person to donate his time to install it for free! The other celebrity singer buried at Forest Lawn Cypress is pioneer rock 'n' roller Eddie Cochran (1938-1960), buried in the Abiding Faith section, plot #2996. As Randy asked, I wonder if he actually painted the mural or if he just commissioned it? It looks perfect in that room. My first thought about Austin Peay is sort of negative--most of us here in central Illinois had probably never heard of this university until their basketball team beat the Illini in the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament. It is a mural which can be removed and placed in another house.

It is perfect for my hubby and me. When I first saw the name of Eddie Rabbitt I thought "Oh, I remember him, I liked him" (and Skeeter he was hot, huh?). And you friend W2W has been a favorite blog writer for a long time...:)What a great story I had not heard...how talented he was and I am so glad to see that this work of art was spared...amazing really that it could be removed and placed in another home.Yes, I remember Mr. Rabbitt. The donation was an awesome thing to do but when it was discovered it would cost $17,000 to remove and reinstall the mural into the residence the deal almost didn't happen. The story about Eddie Rabbitt is very interesting. Well, let me tell you its story first so you can decide. After his death, as the story goes, Eddie's wife was looking for a home for Eddie's mural. Eddie Rabbitt is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. That mural is great. His death was not announced to the public until after the burial.

Janine Girardi and Eddie Rabbitt were married for 21 years before Eddie Rabbitt died, leaving behind his partner and 3 children. Landscape Designer Merit Award Winner for 2013 from PPA in the Under $5000 Category! This mural was in that house. The above home is the residence of the President of APSU. I remember Eddie Rabbit - didn't realize he had died, and at such a young age. Never dawn on me that he might not have been the artist that painted the mural till I read the coments. My second thought was "Oh I did not know he also painted".
